Gingerbread Award Winners Announced
Now in the final week of Portsmouth Historical Society’s 32nd Annual Gingerbread Contest and Exhibition, the award winners for both Community Judges’ Awards and People’s Choice Awards have been determined. Earlier this December, at the Vintage Christmas Kick-off Party, the Judges’ Awards were announced in the following categories:
Adult– Elena Trunifo’s Magical Mushroom Cottage
Multi-Generational– Frank Krupp & Ariana Incollingo’s Tangled Christmas
Teen– The Ravenpuffs’ Hogwarts Express
Youth– Rachel Little’s Bilbo’s Hobbit Hole
Business or Organization– The Mercantile Portsmouth’s Gnomeland
The judging panel was made up of representatives from Avery Agency; Kennebunk Savings Bank; Seacoast Media Group; Portsmouth Arts & Nonprofits Committee; The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth; and Peter Rice, Director of Public Works.
The Gingerbread Committee, including Portsmouth Historical Society staff and volunteers, bestowed the following additional award that same evening:
Committee’s Choice– KimWilloughby’s Wonka’s Chocolate Factory
People’s Choice voting encouraged residents of Portsmouth and visitors to the Portsmouth Historical Society to make their voices heard and reward gingerbread bakers for creative and unique constructions. The People’s Choice awards are as follows:
Most Attention to Detail– Sandi Strzepek’s The Hobbit
Most Creative Building Materials– Rachel Wall’s Those Who Live in Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones
Most Whimsical– Libby Giordano’s Gingerbread Village for Make-A-Wish New Hampshire
Best in Show– Elena Trunfio’s Magical Mushroom Cottage

The full 32nd Annual Gingerbread Contest and Exhibition will remain open until Thursday, December 22. The Portsmouth Historical Society will remain open for the 2022 season through Friday, December 30.
